About this adaptation
Transform your vehicle's manual rear hatch into a convenient, automatic system with the BraunAbility A-Hatch Automatic Boot Opener. Designed to significantly reduce physical effort, this innovative solution provides effortless access to your boot, making loading and unloading much simpler for individuals with mobility challenges, caregivers, or anyone seeking enhanced convenience.
Utilising a robust pneumatic system, the A-Hatch smoothly opens and closes your tailgate at the touch of a button, either via a discreetly placed switch or an optional wireless remote control. Its clever, universal design ensures compatibility with a wide array of larger hatchbacks, vans, and various other vehicle models, integrating seamlessly without compromising your vehicle's original functionality. Crucially, the system does not replace your existing gas struts and always allows for manual operation, offering complete flexibility.
Experience a new level of independence and accessibility. The A-Hatch is perfect for those who struggle with the weight or reach of a traditional boot, enhancing safety and convenience during every journey. Its small, flexible design and universal fitting mean you can enjoy the benefits of an automatic boot opener without extensive vehicle modifications.
Invest in the BraunAbility A-Hatch for a reliable, user-friendly upgrade that brings comfort and ease to your daily life. For vehicles without an electric hatch lock, an accessory Hatch Lock Opener can be seamlessly integrated to provide a complete automatic solution.

Who is it suitable for?
**Reduced Mobility**: Ideal for individuals who experience difficulty with the physical effort required to open and close a car boot, such as those with arthritis, muscular weakness, or limited reach. It removes the need for strenuous lifting or pulling.
**Wheelchair Users & Caregivers**: Particularly beneficial for wheelchair users who need hands-free access to their vehicle’s boot for stowing their wheelchair or other mobility aids. Caregivers will also find it easier to assist without straining.
**Upper Body Limitations**: Suitable for those with conditions affecting their arms, shoulders, or hands, making it hard to manage heavy or stiff boot doors. The automatic operation means no significant upper body strength or dexterity is needed.
**Enhanced Independence**: This product is excellent for anyone seeking to maintain or increase their independence when accessing their vehicle, especially if they frequently use the boot and find manual operation challenging.

Compatibility, fitting & aftercare
Why prices are quoted for your vehicle
Modern cars differ a lot — steering systems, electronics, airbags, dashboards and mounting points. What fits one model may need different parts, programming or labour on another. The figures on this page are a starting point for supplied & fitted work; we confirm a firm price once we know your make, model and year, and have checked compatibility.
Workshop fitting vs mobile
Most adaptations are fitted at our Heathrow or Ferndown workshops, where we have the tools, lifts and diagnostic equipment to do the job properly. Some simpler fittings can still be done at your home or a dealership when the product and vehicle allow — we'll say so when we quote. We never force a mobile fit where workshop conditions are safer or required by the manufacturer.
Area we cover
We focus on local service from our two workshops — roughly within about 30 miles of Heathrow (West Drayton) and about 60 miles of Ferndown (Wimborne). Collection and return of your vehicle, home visits and mobile work (where suitable) sit inside those bands. Outside the area you can usually still bring the vehicle to us, or ask about options when you request a quote.

“Worth every penny. Used multiple times a day without issue. Took a couple of weeks to get fully used to but no fault of the product.”
